What Children Can Teach Adults

Adora Svitak gave a whole inspiring speech about how and what children can teach adults. First, I would like to focus on the word childish. I think describing it as age discriminatory is awesome.  I've heard a lot of that (like Svitak) when I was like seven. Even now I think how I acted was childish and  my thinking wasn't very mature .I think Adora Svitak is right and wrong in some parts. She said that underestimating children's ability isn't very logical and children will be up to the people's expectation. That was very agreeable. She mentioned her father reading her 'Pioneer Germ Fighters when she was six  and I had an experience sort of like that. My teacher told me to practice Carl Stamitz' concerto after like four weeks since I started playing. Also, the children's publisher saying that they don't work with children was ironic. Most of all, I thought Adora Svitac is ingenious. She gave like this brilliant speech about what children can teach adults. She logically explained why children shouldn't be ignored using word even adults wouldn't know. But another ironic thing was she was so mature and adult-like, when she said that she heard that she was immature.

  1. I really agree with a lot of things you have written. Your writing voice is very clear. You have identified and used the idea of irony correctly.

Do you think that the irony of Miss Svitak sounding like an adult while extolling the virtues of childishness hurts or helps her speech? Does it make it easier or more difficult to accept her argument?
