the role model for girls.

There are many princess movies in Disney. Snow White, The Sleeping Beuty, Cinderella, The Beuty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, Mulan, The Princess and the Frog, Rapunzel,  and Merida. Among them, I think Merida is the best role model for girls because not only it isn't discriminatory, unlike others, but it teaches something of real value.

First, it teaches that women are equal to men. The other movies such as Snow White, CInderella, or The Little Mermaid say that only men can save women and women should do only house work. In Snow White, it says that women can easily betray men. For example, even though the dwarves worked hard and kept Snow White from danger, she left the instant the prince came. In Cinderella, the prince was the one who saved Cinderella's life from her hardship. Also, in both movies, the princesses did the house work and nothing else. Also, they were womanly, or quiet and kind. However, Merida was very brave and tom-boyish. She liked shooting and riding unlike other women of her time. She stood up to what she thought was wrong and she saved herself unlike the other disney movies. She demonstrated that women should express their argument and that they have the same right as men.

Second, it shows parent love. The other disney movies only show the part that the princess gets in love with the prince and marries right away. However, this may be dangerous because they don't know the prince's real characteristics, but they get married anyway. Many divorces are caused by the same reason. However, the problem that she has is with her family, not the prince. She is also respionsible for her actions and the problems that she made.

This is the reson that I thought Merida was the proper role model for girls, becuase it teaches important things, unlike other disney movies. I recomend showing Brave to one's children above all other movies.
